On May 4, 2018, PICT co-founder and core faculty member David Selim Sayers participated in the “Conference in Honor of Leslie Peirce” held at the King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, New York University. David joined the conference with his presentation, “Gender Norms and Print Technologies in Nineteenth-Century Istanbul” (watch the talk here). Leslie Peirce, a pioneering scholar in the fields of Ottoman gender and legal studies, is Silver Professor and Professor of History at NYU, posts from which she will be retiring at the end of the academic year 2017-18.
