On October 29, PICT announced the suspension of its Fall 2020 academic program in response to the renewed nationwide lockdown in France. Refusing the option of online teaching since we believe that the critical and creative communities enabled by our courses can only exist face to face, we gave our participants the options of a refund or a deferral. To date, not a single participant has opted for a refund, with many sending us messages of support for our insistence on the in-person educational experience and our refusal to internalize the state of exception as the “new normal.” This spirit of solidarity has shown beyond a doubt that we are on the right path and that PICT is, indeed, a community. We thank our supporters with all our hearts for helping us sustain, in these difficult times, the ideals of critical and creative thinking that we all share.
