Jörg Eschenauer Named Knight of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques

Jörg Eschenauer, Association President of PICT, has received the Ordre des Palmes académiques, an honor awarded by the French state since 1808 for distinguished service in the field of education. Jörg was bestowed the order at the rank of Chevalier (Knight).

Prior to joining PICT in 2023, Jörg served for 18 years (2004-2022) as President of the Languages and Cultures Department at the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, the oldest engineering school in the world, where he received his medal on January 17, at an intimate ceremony hosted by Marie Mathieu-Pruvost, the school’s Director of Education. In his acceptance speech, Jörg stressed the potential—but also the pitfalls—of language education as a tool of communication and exchange between different cultures and peoples.
