Makeup Through the Decades-20s&30s

On Tuesday, October 2, 2018, the Paris Institute for Critical Thinking (PICT) hosted the first night of the two-day intensive workshop, “Makeup Through the Decades”.

Joining us from New York City, makeup artists and educators Jessica Padilla and Michelle Coursey walked us through the history of makeup in the 1920s and 1930s, when makeup became widely available to women for the first time and was influenced in its development by momentous events such as the arrival of color film and the hardships of the Great Depression. In addition, Jessica and Michelle provided hands-on demonstrations of typical makeup styles from these decades with the help our graceful models, Manana Saralidze and Evrim Emir-Sayers.
