TOMOKI PARK is a Korean pianist and scholar born in Yokohama, Japan. He has performed worldwide in venues including Philharmonie Berlin, Wigmore Hall in London, Tokyo Suntory Hall, and Tongyeong Concert Hall, Korea.
Tomoki’s musical education began at age 11 in England, where he studied piano with Tessa Nicholson at the Purcell School while also pursuing composition. He continued his studies at the University of the Arts, Berlin, with Pascal Devoyon, at Bard Conservatory in New York with Peter Serkin, and later at Lake Como Piano Academy. Tomoki is currently based in Berlin, where he continues to receive guidance from Sir András Schiff.
Tomoki has premiered over 50 new works, including as part of the Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt and of Ostasien-Institut’s program in Beethoven Haus Bonn. He has worked with composers such as Dai Fujikura, Rebecca Saunders, George Benjamin, Michael Cohen-Weissert, and Heinz Holliger. With Peter Serkin, he performed the J.S. Bach and Takemitsu Double Piano Concertos with the Sacramento Philharmonic, and Adolf Busch’s two-piano music at the Marlboro Music Festival.
Apart from his performing career, Tomoki has been active as an instructor in both conservatory and academic settings. He has provided mentorship and led masterclasses at the Purcell School, the Conservatoire de Lausanne, and Bard College Conservatory of Music. As a lecturer, he has spoken on topics including the 2nd Viennese School, Debussy’s Critique of Beethoven’s ‘Pastoral’ Symphony, the life and work of pianists Peter Serkin and Charles Rosen, and Austrian music theorist Heinrich Schenker.
