New Plays on the London Stage: A Conversation with Mark Ravenhill

To kick off our Fall 2023 semester, the PICT Honorary Lectures series cordially invites you to a very special event: “New Plays on the London Stage: A Conversation with Mark Ravenhill“. The free and public event will take place on Saturday, 7 October 2023.

Few contemporary playwrights are as synonymous with the London stage as Mark Ravenhill. Since his debut at the Royal Court Theatre with Shopping and Fucking in 1996, Mark’s plays have been produced regularly on London stages from the National Theatre to the Donmar to the West End. Mark has also served as Associate Artist of the National Theatre and Writer-in-Residence for the Royal Shakespeare Company, which will produce his new play in Spring 2024.

How has the role of the play and the playwright on the London stage changed in the last three decades? What are the latest developments in London playwriting? In an informal and open conversation moderated by PICT’s own Anton Bonnici, Mark will share with you his experience of over twenty-five years’ work on the London stage and answer your questions about new theatre writing.

Also check out Writing the Space: Site-Responsive Creative Writing, a one-day intensive workshop that Mark will lead at PICT on Sunday, 8 October.

The talk is free and open to the public.
