Jörg Eschenauer

JÖRG ESCHENAUER is a teacher, pedagogue, and political scientist.

Since obtaining his doctorate from the University of Heidelberg in Germany, Jörg has taught at all levels of the French education system, including the Lycée International de Sèvres, the École Centrale, and the École Polytechnique. Since 2008, he has been Professor at the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, where he also served as President of the Languages and Cultures Department from 2004 to 2022. Jörg has chaired the Board of the Centre de Recherche de la Pédagogie Active (CRPA) and the Union des Professeurs de Langue des Grandes Écoles d’Ingénieur et de Management (UPLEGESS), and served as Treasurer of the Observatoire européen du plurilinguisme (OEP).

Jörg’s reflections on pedagogy and interculturality center on the question of how a subject becomes a responsible actor. The key concepts of his reflection are enaction, agentivity, cooperation, and imagination. He has presented his ideas and pedagogical experiences in talks such as “L’évaluation entre promesses illimitées et limites prometteuses—Questionnement autour des apories de l’évaluation standardisée” and “Sur les traces de la résonance en salle de classe: l’expérience d’apprendre selon Hartmut Rosa,” as well as the articles “Apprendre une langue en tandem : une réinterprétation à la lumière d’une approche sociocognitiviste” (Revue Langages 2013/4) and “Questionnement autour de la formation à l’interculturel : le cas de Grandes Écoles” (Management interculturel, altérité et identités, Paris 2014).
